Our Trusting Faithful God

One day, my son Wellington and I were at the beach swimming in the ocean. It was pretty rough and the waves were crashing over us at about 5 to 6 feet. I kept noticing Wells was going under water every time a big swell of waves would come towards us. I would lose sight of him for about 5 to 10 seconds. He was only 12 at the time and not very big so the waves and undertow could really have their way with him. I finally asked him where he was going every time he was submerging himself underneath the huge waves. He looked at me and said; dad don’t you know. I’m going down to the bottom floor of the ocean where its calm and waiting for the rough waves to pass by. I said in amazement back to him; Wells you are a brilliant young man. Here I was getting pounded by these 6 foot waves and he was on the quiet, peaceful, calm ocean floor waiting for the rough waves to pass by. It reminded me of What Jesus said to His disciples in John 14:27- “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid because I am always with you.” When the waves of life come crashing down on us (and they do and always will) God is that quiet, calm and peaceful place we can go to and find some rest. We don’t have to deal with the challenges by ourselves. But its our choice. We can do life on our own or we can do life with God. The Bible says That when King David was just a Shepard ¬†boy, he killed lions and bears with only his bare hands. But King David said; “The Lord, who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the mouth of the bear will surely rescue me from this Philistine giant.” And that is exactly what God did for King David. David knew where to draw his strength from; especially when his life got rough, dangerous and uncertain. What do you do when life gets tough? Who do you turn to for help? Are you trying to do things on your own? Confused about a certain direction or big decision? God tells us to turn to Him and He will listen, give us advice, and help us work things out. Proverbs 3:5-6 says; “Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Trust God Today. Trust God Now. He will hear you when you call out to Him. Reach out to Him today.
