God The Rock

God will allow trials, problems, and difficult circumstances to come on us when we are not doing the right things. He will sometimes cause great storms to rise up in our lives when we are not doing what He wants us to do. He can make life so difficult sometimes that we don’t have anywhere else to go but to Him. He will turn up the heat so high, there’s no where we can go to hide. In the Bible, here is what God did to Jonah when he refused to go to Nineveh. But The Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up. The men picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea. Then The Lord prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. God made Jonah spend 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of this big fish. God can and will cause storms in our lives when we are not living according to His will. We are not always going to do the right things and when we don’t, (just like any good parent would do) there is going to be some discipline and punishment applied to our lives. Trials come our way for good but sometimes they are very painful and seem unfair at the time. Storms are God’s way of getting our attention. He always has something better for us. He wants us to depend on Him, trust Him, and prayerfully seek Him out. Jonah finally cried out to God and asked Him to forgive him, to help him, and to tell God of his desperate need for Him. Jonah turned to God in final desperation, and the Bible says, “The Lord spoke to the fish and made him spit Jonah out on the dry land.” God will turn our deepest darkest storms into some of life’s greatest victories if we will only trust Him and do what He says to do. When the storms of life come at us, (and they will) we need to pray and ask God to guide us, protect us, encourage us, and to help us persevere, and have faith each day that He is working the storm for our eventual good. And it is always a great time to remember how much we desperately need Him and how much we depend on Him to help us get through life.
