Flesh vs Spirit

If you’re a Christian, you have a war being waged inside of you. Its a wicked and vile battle going on each day between your “flesh” and “The Spirit” They are in constant conflict with each other and think completely opposite of one another. One wants stuff. The other Godliness. One wants selfish desires. The other wants Godly desires. One wants wickedness. The other Holiness. Here’s what the Bible tells us about the “Flesh” and the “Spirit”. In Galatians 5:17: God tells us that the flesh and spirit are “2 forces” that are constantly fighting with each other. God gave us (those of us that are saved) His Holy Spirit to battle the flesh and keep it in check. If you’re not saved, God gave you a conscious to battle the flesh but unfortunately your conscious is not powerful enough to battle your flesh, which God calls a “force”. Unfortunately, our conscious is also bent towards sin, so most of the time its in perfect agreement with the flesh. God says we are “bent towards sin the minute we are born”. According to ┬áThe Book of Ephesians, our flesh is toxic and desires sexual immorality, greed, boasting of ourselves, idolatry, hatred, impurity, corruption, discord and chaos, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, and wild partying. On the other hand, The Spirit desires love, joy, peace, tolerance, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness, forgiveness and self control. We must make a conscious decision on who we will trust and follow. God gives us the the facts and the figures, but ultimately He gives us the freedom and choice of which one to follow- The toxic flesh, which creates and festers false illusions, misery, dissension, and trouble to oneself and those around them. Or the goodness of “The Spirit”, which produces good will, obedience, peace, true joy, kindness, goodness and love. What will you and I do with this flesh? What will we do with The Spirit? ┬áThe flesh was crucified and slain on a cross over 2000 years ago and The Spirit was risen up for you and me in the works, sacrifice, and obedience of Jesus Christ. We all must choose a path and destiny. Obedience or disobedience. Holiness or selfishness. Toxic or pure? Its our choice. What’s it gonna be?
