Blameless Hearts

Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

It is possible for our hearts to be so corrupt we are blind to it.

The closer we walk with Christ, the more we, as David cries, can beg God to reveal to us those things we are blind to.

Read the whole of Psalm 139. Pray David’s prayer found there.

You tell us in Your Word,
through the lips of Your precious Son,
that blessed are the PURE IN HEART, for they shall see YOU (Matthew 5:8).

O, GOD, how we long to see You.
Just to see You.

LORD, empty us of any impurities. Any attachments or trappings other than serving You with our lives, other than just knowing You.

We want our hearts to be pure so we get to see You.

Not just there and then. Here and now.

May we, this morning, ruthlessly confess anything false, anything fleshly, anything contaminating us, before YOU. May we lay those things down and be made pure.

May we allow our hearts to be guided and strengthened by You and only You. May You sensitize us, through Your Holy Spirit, to anything that creeps in to steer our hearts off course.

May we remain pure.

Keep us ever cautious, ever vigilant. Solomon tells us to guard our hearts above all else, for from our hearts flows everything we do (Proverbs 4:23).

We are begging YOU to guard our hearts, so everything we do flows from purity.

So we can see You.

We beg You to let us see You.
