Blameless

Scripture:
“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, searching for those He might strengthen, whose hearts are fully committed to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).

Reflection:

Who is God searching for?
The person whose heart is fully committed to Him.
Not talent. Or skill. Training or appeal.

He is searching–
–active and eager, waiting, longing, with great anticipation–
to find SOMEONE worthy of pouring His great strength out upon.

His enormous, unending, galaxy-creating, world-changing, life-giving strength.

He is looking for the person whose heart is FULLY committed to Him.
One translation says “blameless.”
The person whose heart is BLAMELESS towards Him.

Our human hearts become filled with all sorts of impurities. In our fallen natures, we have inherited hearts that are “deceitful above all things” (Jeremiah 17:9). And despite our best efforts, we can unknowingly allow outside influences to creep in and distort what God is calling us to do.

The center of our call, then, as Jesus followers, as people whose longing is to be filled with the strength of God- strength the writer of Chronicles tells us God is eager to give- is the call to be blameless.

To be “pure in heart” (Matthew 5:8).

When we are pure, our motives are pure. Our hearts become cleansed and rinsed, devoid of all outside influence, personal gain, expectation.

There are no expectations attached to His call, other than lifting up and making famous HIS GREAT NAME.

This is why we exist.

When our hearts are pure before Him in this pursuit, blameless, fully committed to Him, He will STRENGTHEN us (2 Chronicles 16:9).

He is eager to.

Our responsibility, then is to ruthlessly fight for pure hearts.

Let this be our prayer.
